Abstract

Most definitions of globalization agree on the fact that the role of the national state seems to become less and less important. If this is true, which place have indi-viduals as citizens? Is political participation still possible? This essay aims to offer a (minimally normative) theory of the role of the citizen in time of globalization, stretching out the possibilities offered by new forms of political community (interna-tional organizations etc.). Key words: Patriotism; constitution; nation state; globalization; political com-munity.
