Abstract

Introduction. The relevance of the study of the problem of patriotic education of Russian youth is due to a sharp change in the first quarter of the 21st century in the hierarchy of social values, priorities, ideals, a sharp clash of ideological currents, the need to strengthen the integrity of the modern world and accept its diversity, the aggravation of problems associated with the formation of civil and patriotic convictions of the younger generation in the conditions of multidirectional processes of globalization and glocalization. In the current realities, a harmonious combination of the phenomena of global culture and national and ethnic cultures becomes in demand, actively influencing the upbringing of a person who adequately responds to the challenges of the modern world. The patriotic education of students is considered in the comparative aspect of the pedagogical practices of the USA, China and Russia. The purpose of the study is to study the problem of patriotic education of schoolchildren – bilinguals of 7-8 grades of the city lyceum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) – a multicultural subject of Russia – at literature lessons based on the «dialogue of cultures». Materials and methods. Questioning, qualitative analysis of statistical data, the method of included pedagogical observation, analysis of the training session, study and generalization of pedagogical experience were applied. The survey involved 68 students of grades 7-8 of the bilingual polytechnic lyceum in Yakutsk. Research results. It was revealed that 61% of bilingual students of adolescence, due to age and ethno-cultural characteristics, consider themselves a patriot of their small Motherland; 23% are called citizens of Russia; 16% consider themselves a «citizen of the world». An experimental lesson using the tools of the «dialogue of cultures» on the material of literary texts of Russian and Yakut literature proved the potential of intercultural communication in the formation of the patriotic culture of bilinguals. The discussion of the results. Of particular importance in the education of state patriotism among schoolchildren of the ethnoregion are training sessions based on intercultural communication, «dialogue of cultures», comparison of images of folk heroes of different nationalities, preserved in the historical memory of people, representing a role model, being a moral, patriotic guide for students-bilinguals.
