Abstract

Patricia Arredondo has influenced the development and refinement of cultural competency in psychology. She is thrice a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), has been named a Living Legend by the American Counseling Association (ACA), and has provided transformative leadership to many organizations including the Society of Counseling Psychology of APA, the Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race of APA, the ACA, and the National Latina/o Psychological Association. Her work on cultural competency and empowerment has helped usher in an era where social justice is a main focus of counseling and counseling psychology. During this charla (interview) Patricia shares how she created her own career path.
