Abstract
CONCLUSIONS: Implementation of a comprehensive ERP in major AWR was not associated with any adverse effects. Multimodal perioperative pain management, oral opioid receptor blockade and early feeding strategies resulted in accelerated intestinal recovery, shorter hospitalizations and fewer readmissions. The use of our ERP appears to result in improved outcomes in patients undergoing complex open AWRs.
