Abstract

Because the therapy unit for the Baron Neutron Capture Therapy(BNCT) project will be installed in the institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER), the patient referral system will have to be addressed in order to have the project work. Four arrangements are proposed and each involves different advantages and difficulties: 1. Individual referring medical centres are in charge of everything including patient evaluation, transportation and care. 2. A new medical ward is created at the INER, and a medical team is formed by members from all participant hospitals. 3. Using Shee-Yuan Hospital as the referral centre, but the patient evaluation and care are the responsibility of referring medical centres. 4. Cooperating with the 804 Army Hospital, using both its facilities and staff. Each choice has its advantages and disadvantages. The final decision of the referral procedure is worth a further assessment.
