Abstract

Introduction: High quality and safe health care in a safe environment is a key priority at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute (MMCI). As part of this objective patients need protection from hazards originating in patients themselves. Prompt reporting of special incidents, their effective investigation and purposeful evaluation are also crucial. Assistance in patient protection against physical trauma such as injury due to a fall is part of basic nursing care. Management of special incidents is an important part of the Continuous Quality Improvement program, which is included in Risk Management within the Consumer Directed Care.
