Abstract

Purpose/Objective: While dose escalation has been shown to improve disease-free survival in prostate cancer, it is also associated with a greater incidence of late rectal toxicity. Numerous studies of dose-volume histograms (DVHs) have shown that rectal toxicity is positively correlated with the percentage of rectal wall exposed to high radiation doses.
