Abstract

This chapter presents the second group of three case studies in the book, or to be more precise, case histories, namely those firms from the automotive supply industry that are exposed to stock markets—one with main operations and a plant in each of the three national contexts, Germany, Sweden, and the United States. The chapter presents material for each of the three national contexts respectively. Guided by the conceptual framework developed in chapter 2, each case is analysed in terms of firm trajectory, corporate governance, employee voice, and work systems. Concluding reflections are made on each case by reference to path-dependency theory.
