Abstract

In recent years, relevant studies have shown that genes, inflammatory mediators, enzyme activities and oxidative stress play important roles in the formation and development of middle ear cholesteatoma. In terms of treatment, the ear microsurgery combining otoscopy is also emphasized. This article summarizes the new progress in pathogenesis and treatment of middle ear cholesteatoma, so as to provide effective and practical reference for clinicians.
