Abstract

Between 1975 and 1984 300 children with intestinal obstruction were treated (overall lethality 6.3%). A special problem are cases of volvulus, most on base of malrotation. In case of hermorrhagic infarction all over the small bowel the two-stage-operation has occasionally proved useful. In postoperative or recurrent obstruction a tube splinting of the intestine was used. The mortality of these patients - 106 cases since 1966 - comes to 4.7%.
