Abstract
Patents as an IP have grown into an appealing asset for any commercial enterprise. The tendency to acquire gamut of patents for a particular venture require companies to maintain an effective system of patents portfolios. A portfolio system in itself follows a number of set principles. Patent porfolio management as a system follows a number of process & develops into a strong shield against patent infringements. In due time the patent portfolio system has emerged as a hero but this veil lies the issues that have emerged whereby big companies are able to dominate the market. In due time there is a need of an accurate evaluation whether patent portfolio system will be a boon or a ban for future growth of IPRs.
