Abstract

Secretary of Commerce Frederick B. Dent has announced that in response to a directive from President Nixon, the Commerce Department's U.S. Patent Office has instituted procedures for speeding up the processrng of patent applications relating to energy.Effective immediately, Dent said the Patent Office will, on request, accord special status to all patent applications for inventions that materially contribute to the discovery or development of energy resources and to the more efficient utilization and conservation of energy resources.
