Abstract

In UK patent 22555 537 Peter John Croft Phillips describes an aerodynamic servo system for assisting in the control of the ailerons, elevator or rudder of an aircraft. It comprises at least one auxiliary aerodynamic member which, instead of being directly mounted on the control surface is connected at a convenient point to the mechanical linkage which controls that control surface. The auxiliary aerodynamic member is typically behind a screening member for the neutral position of the linkage, but is moved into the airflow past the aircraft when the linkage operates to move the control.
