Abstract

Patellofemoral complaints are probably the most frequently encountered overstress symptoms of the knee in orthopedic consultations. New pathologies have recently been recognized in terms of evolution, biomechanics and clinical appearance and detailed knowledge is consistently increasing. The clinical implications for a physical examination have, however, not yet been elucidated for all pathologies. The clinical history and a detailed physical examination are the first steps in a successful therapy. This article presents a structured overview of clinical tests and their significance for routine practice.
