Abstract

This paper is an introduction to a Chinese perspective on pastoral counseling and how pastoral counseling is different and distinctive when practiced and applied in a Chinese Christian community. Chinese culture is presented from philosophical, historical, sociological and psychological perspectives and refers in this text specifically to Chinese communities in Hong Kong and Canada. The basic intention of this paper is to note how these various cultural considerations inform us in terms of how pastoral counseling can be done within Chinese Christian communities.
