Abstract

The present article provides an overview of recent developments in the field of medieval Christian Iberian historiography. It surveys the work produced in the field of philology and contextual studies in the last 30 years and aims to suggest ways in which the field may develop in the near future.1 1As this article was being written, the sad news of the death of Diego Catalán Menéndez Pidal was announced. This article is therefore dedicated to the memory of the greatest scholar of his generation in his field.
