Abstract

The use of renewable energy is becoming more and more common for the use of clean energy and applications in remote locations where there is no easy access to electricity such as satellites in space or desert areas. When working with solar panels DC to DC converters may be used to adapt the panels voltage and current to the circuit as well as for load regulation. Since these circuits and solar panels contain nonlinear behavior, control methods such as Passivity Based Control (PBC) can be applied. This paper focuses on the use of a Zeta converter and PBC with solar panels as input voltage. A system is simulated with a resistive load and PBC is applied for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) as well as for load regulation.
