Abstract

We present here a wireless technique for characterizing micro coil parameters in fluidic environments. An electrically small magnetic loop antenna is used as an excitation coil and the test micro coil is inductively coupled in near electromagnetic field. A frequency dependent analytical model is developed, modeling the inductively coupled system including the effects of the coupling capacitances in presence of different fluids like distilled water, RF coolant, Transformer and Hydraulic Oils. To evaluate the test micro-coil parameters the reflected impedance and the return loss signal is measured at high frequencies. Non linear least square estimation is used to extract the test micro coil parameters and then fitted back in the developed analytical model. Further FEM analysis is performed to visualize the field behavior and to verify the results.
