Abstract

High resolution brightness temperature (BT) image of millimeter-wave radiometer is produced by mechanically scanning or by two dimensional antenna arrays for passive millimeter-wave (PMMW) range measurement. Similar to visible photogrammetry and stereo ranging, the range of target is estimated with stereo image pair taken by the radiometer. In this paper, we propose the range measurement method using 2-D scanning single radiometer for stereoscopic passive image. Two images are captured by scanning radiometer with baseline distance and range of the specific object can be determined by baseline distance with angular difference of an object from radiometric images. But there are many uncertainties for the range and range accuracy. We also have tested and analyzed this issue. In the experiment, range discrepancy effect dependent on target form of w-band scanning radiometer were tested and analyzed.
