Abstract

This paper investigates the passive radar detection system which exploits advanced broadcasting system-satellite (ABS-S) as opportunity illuminator. Firstly, the signal model is established and our ABS-S passive radar system architecture is presented. Then a low complexity and efficient cancellation method named a batch version of sequential cancellation algorithm (SCA-B) is proposed in signal processing scheme, in order to reduce the computational burden of direct path interference (DPI) suppression caused by a long integration time which can be used to solve the problem of low target echo signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of passive radar. Finally, the results of the detection of typical buildings using ABS-S passive radar both confirm the effectiveness of the proposed DPI suppression method and the feasibility of passive detection using ABS-S signal.
