Abstract

Objective: On the molecular level of myocardial contraction so called „latch bridges“ (cross-bridges, generating force without cross-bridge cycling and without energy expenditure) are thought to contribute to myocardial stiffness and disturbances of myocardial relaxation. The present study analyses whether passive resting tension is really entirely passive based on an experimental model of isolated human left ventricuklar myocardium.
