Abstract

In this paper, we propose a design of asymmetric rectangular waveguide based on a phase gradient metasurface (PGMs). This metasurface consists of split-ring resonators with different geometric parameters, which can control the phase of the reflection wave and realize anomalous reflections. By loading the designed metasurface to a rectangular waveguide, propagation mode and direction of the guided waves can be controlled via strong anomalous reflection. Such waveguide device can converts the waveguide mode gradually into surface wave (SW) mode in forward direction, however, blocks it in backward direction. This design has been demonstrated by simulation results.
