Abstract
Abstract Mast cells collected from certain mouse strains (e.g., A, C57BL) were shown to be significantly less susceptible than those collected from other strains (e.g., C3H, DBA/2) to in vitro passive anaphylactic sensitization by purified anti-hapten antibodies. Antibodies of isologous, homologous and heterologous (rat) origin were used with identical results. No relation between the presence or absence of a complement component (MuB1 Ag, C5) and susceptibility to sensitization was found, and no clear pattern of inheritance of this characteristic could be demonstrated.
