Abstract

THERE seems to be no evidence of Pascal's having developed a pyramid to correspond to his triangle. It is rather interesting to note, however, that there is a pyramidal pattern for determining the coefficients of a trinomial raised to successive powers, just as his triangle is a pattern for determining the coefficients of the binomial expansion. This was suggested, and worked out to some extent, by a pupil of a colleague who showed me her paper several years ago.
