Abstract
The dissimilarity representation for pattern recognition has proved to be a feasible alternative to the traditional feature based approach. It is shown that the application of the Parzen classifier, in the so-called generalised dissimilarity space by feature lines, may improve the recognition performance obtained by other classification rules in the original dissimilarity space and in the generalised dissimilarity space.
