As population growth has fallen sharp in recent years, Korean government began looking for ways to rehabilitate the existing urban residential areas instead of replacing it with new apartment blocks. However, the current common housing type, called `Multi-family house“ has been spotted as the culprit that deteriorated the urban residential environment during the densification due to its genetic shortcomings. Many government funded researches have studied the alternative housing types which utilize party walls for the improve.
