Abstract

In this chapter, I shall do five things: 1. Look briefly at what a political party is supposed to be. 2. Discuss in some detail the Congress Party of India. 3. Examine the Janata Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party. 4. Describe the main class-based and regional parties. 5. Note the lack of significant pressure group politics in the Indian party system.
