Abstract

The College had a strong presence at the three main party conferences again this year, holding fringe events and meeting key policy makers at the Liberal Democrat conference in Bournemouth, Labour in Brighton and the Conservatives in Manchester. So why do we, as an independent charity interested in improving the lives of patients and surgeons, go to these political events? It is perhaps easiest to answer that by looking first at what happens at party conferences and who goes to them.
