Abstract
We propose a parton model interpretation of the cut vertex formalism recently developed by Mueller. We show that this interpretation extends to all orders in the running coupling constant α(t) , the Altarelli-Parisi picture in both the time-like and space-like regions. We show the equivalence with the light-cone expansion method in the space-like region and we verify this equivalence by explicit calculations in [ φ 3] 6 up to the two-loop level both for the space-like cut vertices and the matrix elements of minimal twist Wilson operators.
