Abstract

In this article, the role of particles in the structure of utterance is analyzed. Particles utter the implicit content that is the object of several theories in Pragmatics. There are three types of implicit content – presuppositions, implications and conversational implicatures. It is considered that the implicit content uttered by particles is the conventional implicature, because the implicit content follows directly from the meaning of particle, not the whole utterance. An utterance with a neutral word order is constructed and particles pat and tikai are inserted to find the implicit content that is expressed by particles.KEY WORDS: particles, implicit content, presupposition, implication, conversational implicature, conventional implicature.
