Abstract
By means of Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements we have studied the superparamagnetic relaxation of ultrafine maghemite particles. The behaviour of oleic acid coated and uncoated particles is compared. The effects of pressing the samples are also investigated. The observed differences are ascribed to the difference in the strength of the magnetic interaction between the particles in the samples.
