Abstract

We consider a suspension of polarizable sub-micron particles under the action of a traveling wave dielectrophoresis (DEP). Our focus is specifically on particle-induced effects. When no external forces are exerted on the fluid and the particles are driven only by a DEP force, the joint motion of the particles can induce a steady fluid flow, leading to particle entrapment. The particle feedback effect is proven to be non-negligible even for a small volume concentration of particles.
