Abstract

In 2014, the multidisciplinary, patient-centred Diabetes Empowerment Group Program (DEGP) (1) was piloted at a family medicine clinic in Montreal, Québec. The DEGP was initially developed by a family physician (F.H.-E.) and a nurse clinician (J.R.). The aim was to help empower people living with diabetes by improving their quality of life, motivation and sense of control. Between 2016 and 2018, a research project was conducted to assess the feasibility of implementing the DEGP at different health institutions across Québec, in collaboration with researchers from the McGill Department of Family Medicine.
