Abstract
A new algorithm is proposed for assigning some of the eigenvalues to the desired places while guaranteeing the stability of the closed-loop system. For partial eigenstructure assignment, the null space approach is utilized, and additional feedback is used to stabilize the remaining eigenvalues. The quadratic type performance index is chosen to determine the additional feedback gain lying on the constrained vector space, and the problem in computing the additional feedback gain is formulated as the linear quadratic regulator problem with output feedback. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, a design methodology is illustrated through application on the aircraft.
