Abstract
The development of hybridoma technology (1) made it possible to produce homogenous antibodies secreted by individual clonal cell lines. There are several advantages in having monoclonal reagents in conjunction with alloantisera: 1) Purity of the reagent 2) one immunized mouse can, theoretically, yield unlimited supply of antibody. The latter is of particular importance to investigators with very limited supply of mice. The extent of availability of alloantisera with restricted specificity, on the other hand, is dictated by the degree of availability of intra-H-2 recombinant lines.
