Abstract

In this chapter we explore Part of Speech (POS) tagging using the openNLP library. openNLP is an interface to the Apache’s Natural Language Processing toolkit of the same name. Apache OpenNLP is a JAVA based machine learning toolkit for the processing of natural language text. Much in the way that the mallet package for R is an interface to MALLET, the openNLP package in R provides and R-based interface to the Apache library.
