Abstract

The essays in this section focus on the relationship between class struggle and feminist struggle, a theme adumbrated in many of the previous essays. Shen Yanbing, unlike most Marxists, argues in his essay that the leadership of the Chinese women's movement must necessarily come from the intellectual class. The essays by Chen Wangdao and Wang Jianhong, on the other hand, argue that the Chinese women's movement should shift its focus to the lower class. In his speech before the Guangdong Federation of Women's Circles, Chen Duxiu emphasizes the identity between the women's movement and socialism.
