Abstract

Abstract The archives of the All-Union Population Census of 1937 have preserved tabulated [razrabotochnye] information concerning the population's social composition and its occupations. These are rough drafts, prepared according to classification by social composition, which were not formally set out in conventional tables. Their degree of preparation, however, is such that it is possible to complete the proposed work and to group the data in tables. Before we present these data, let us dwell on several explanatory points.
