Abstract

After observing production modes, or the natural historical process of the evolution of resource deployment modes, this author has summed this up in a most basic and crucial fact: that mankind is progressing, step by step, from a closed to an open and socialized economy. Socialization, however, is not the ceaseless concentration of production factors and the unlimited expansion of production scale until the entire society becomes one actor; it is not the repetition of a closed economy on an expanded or societal scale. Summarization of the facts has led this author to perceive the true meaning of the concept of "socialization" as: People do not produce products for their own consumption; all production is carried out for society and is dependent upon social consumption, and hence must conform to social demand and attain a level of consumption and efficiency acknowledged by society, and that society is the ultimate evaluator. The people's consumption (consumption of means of production and livelihood) depends on social production. All these can only be realized through commodity exchange through the market. Social evaluation is actually market assessment. Therefore, "socialization" is actually commoditization and marketization.
