Abstract

One hundred twenty-five consecutive cases of traction macular detachment secondary to diabetic retinopathy are analyzed. Visual results show 72% to have improvement. Long-term follow-up (average 39 months) of the initial 75 cases revealed that 62% of the initially improved cases remained improved. Neovascular glaucoma rate continues to be higher in aphakic eyes as compared to phakic eyes.
