Abstract

Parole officers play an important role in the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders and in protecting the community from crime. They provide youth with resources to overcome family, peer, and community obstacles that predispose them to recidivism. The role of juvenile parole officers is often one of community support worker and also of police officer, showing the changing trend of occupational responsibilities for parole officers. There are significant pressures that juvenile parole officers face in doing their duty, including high stress, low pay, and other occupational tensions.
