Abstract

Thanks to various factors, the National Museum has managed to collect a relatively large number of items related to the topic of modern parliamentarism, many of which have been increasingly presented to the public in recent years at exhibitions, in expositions, and on digital platforms. The goal of this study is to provide the public with a basic overview of items related to parliamentarism in the collection funds across the National Museum. The items are systematized, their general characteristics are given, and selected ones are subsequently described and placed in a historical context. The study deals with collection items that fall into the long period between the Austrian Reichstag convocation and the dissolution of Czechoslovakia (1848–1992) and are primarily related to selected areas: parliamentary seats, activities in parliament, politicians from the parliamentary chambers as well as political parties, and the role of citizens.
