Abstract

One of the main implications of population growth and high lifestyle standards, particularly in urban areas, is the increase in city traffic. Trying to find a parking spot during rush hours is time-consuming and causes unnecessary fuel wastage. Uncoordinated searching for parking spaces often results in traffic in such spaces and increased vehicle exhaust volume has a detrimental effect on the environment. Along with that, the same parking charges regardless of the parking time are quite unreasonable. Dynamic parking fees and reservation-based smart parking systems have therefore become essential. The technique presented in the research communicates parking information to a driver in advance, considerably decreasing the time spent in searching parking spaces.
