Abstract

This paper presents the prophecy of parking area in parking management system using Geographic Information System (GIS). Parking area is generated by using Google SketchUp Pro 2015. One of the most outstanding and major problems in the parking management system is to search for an empty parking space. In recent years, there has been an expanding enthusiasm from drivers to have access to real-time information while on the way to a specific destination. Progresses in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have concentrated on the scattering of real time information. As central business areas, airplane terminals, travel stations, and shopping malls keep on turning out to be more swarmed during peak times; interest for real-time parking data is expanding. With diminishing parking space and increasing the number of vehicles, this can cause dissatisfaction for the drivers to look for a void parking space particularly during peak time hours. The research objective of this study is to determine free parking space with less time consumption by using ArcGIS Desktop Suite and synchronize with the ArcGIS mobile phone application. ArcGIS application software used is ArcMap. With the aid of the sensors in the parking area, it will determine whether the parking space is occupied or unoccupied. Then the ArcGIS from mobile phone application will directly provide direction to the nearest parking space available for the drivers. This can be concluded that the ArcGIS software can be very useful for users as it can provide better path route and thus directly give direction to the available parking area with less time consumption.
