Abstract

Vehicles high mobility and frequent partitioning in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET) decreases accessibility to the data stored in other vehicles. Since vehicles often stop in parking lots we propose a proactive parking based data replication method. According this method vehicles that stop in same parking together form distributed data storage and communicate data with other vehicles in parking lots. In order to increase accessibility, data replicate between parking members during their stop and replicate between parking lots when vehicles move among them. We use vehicle stop statistics to categorize vehicle relation with parking in reference, frequent and transient and then propose suitable replication method for each type. Matching replication requirement with vehicle stop specifications in parking such as frequent meeting of vehicles and data similarity in them improve replication efficiency in parking. Simulations show that vehicles with long term stop in reference parking, regular entry and exit in frequent parking and more different transient parking witch vehicle refers to them, are better choice for replication. Replicating widely used data in better vehicles increase data accessibility average in the whole VANET.
