Abstract

<h3>Illegal Use of the Title of Doctor</h3> A recent law created the title of doctor of veterinary medicine, and provided penalties ranging from 500 to 10,000 francs for (1) those who assume illegally the title of doctor of veterinary medicine, or the title of veterinarian, and (2) those who, being doctors of veterinary medicine but not doctors of medicine, omit after their doctor's title the phrase "of veterinary medicine." Prof. E. H. Perreau of the University of Toulouse faculty of law, an authority on medical jurisprudence, states that this law seems to end the controversy which caused so much discussion a few years ago of the question, Is the assumption of the title "doctor," without further explanation, punishable by law?
