Abstract

Derek Parfit (11 December 1942–1 January 2017) worked on a broad range of issues in normative ethics, applied ethics, and metaethics; he also wrote on metaphysical issues with implications for morality, in particular on personal identity, time, and cosmogony. His original ideas and ingenious arguments are destined to be discussed for generations.
