Introduction

Every year more than 800,000 people take their own life and there are many more people who attempt suicide. In 2012, 75% of global suicides occurred in low- and middle-income countries and was the second leading cause of death among 15-29-yearolds globally [1]. Defining suicidal ideation as intended thoughts of engaging in behaviour to end life [3] is an important indicator of mental health. It emphasizes on the risk of engaging in suicidal attempts during adolescents [4]. Suicide is a leading cause of death worldwide and becoming a public health concern among adolescents. Adolescent suicidal behaviour is a neglected public health issue, especially in low-income countries such as Bangladesh. Of great importance is the understanding of which factors might be related to this growing public problem
