Abstract

Parents of preschool children undergoing psychiatric evaluation were included in the evaluation process through a parents' group, and their attitudes regarding child-rearing behaviors were measured on five factors. Comparisons of parental attitudes on the five factors, demographic variables, and diagnoses of their children revealed several significant findings, including differences between mothers' and fathers' perceptions of their parenting ability between caucasian and non-caucasian parents as well as differences based on the child's diagnosis.
