Abstract

A modified Kuethe Felt Figure Technique was used to measure objectively Negro and white primary school children's placement of self on a field in relation to parental figures. This study using a more stringent measurement for achievement than an earlier investigation (Rubin, 1968) substantiated earlier findings with white Ss, i.e., placement of “self” for white Ss is a function of both sex and achievement. The new findings show that for Negro Ss, placement of “self” is only a function of achievement.
